They asked us for tshirts - we gave them a grievance

The Kennedys were tasked with designing a t-shirt line as an internal project, we used this platform to discuss the issue of unpaid internships. The creative industry has a serious problem with not paying interns. This practice excludes everyone without the means of supporting themselves while undertaking unpaid work.

The name Underqualified comes from the paradox of having to have professional experience to get paid for your work - but having to work for free to get that experience. To create artwork for the garments, we commandeered a bunch of clipart (free art) and bitmapped it to give it all a unified look. We collected stories from junior creatives about their own experiences of unpaid work and created a blog to share out stories and information relevant to unpaid interns and graduates seeking placements.
